The landscapes, pedominantly Irish, begin life as small oil studies painted in situe, with Cloe usually precariously balanced on a drystone wall. They are an instant intuitive response to her surroundings, based in reality, they are her own perception of the ever changing enviroment around her. The one constant being the transient nature of the weather, moving over this ancient land.

The method of working is to use broad expressive washes of colours with thick layers of impasto worked in with a pallet knife. The aim is not to labouriously recreate every leaf and stone but to capture the essence and the spirit of this ancient celtic land.

The larger works are then painted in the studio with the same energetic intensity, and romantic ideals, often with ominously brooding skies and bright flashes of colour reflecting the vast beauty of this savage, spirited place.
